Outcomes to Domestic Disputes
In Morales, the Court of Appeal again emphasized the adverse impact that relocation would have on a young child who had lived since birth in Louisiana. The mother had lost her job and sought and obtained other, better employment in Corpus Christi, Texas. The relocation, however, took the child away from her father and her mother and father’s extended family. Although the evidence reflected the father’s failure, on occasion, to properly care for his young daughter, the Court found on balance that the best interests of the child would be served by refusing to permit the mother’s relocation.
